Combine the thrill of big game safaris in Kruger with beautiful Zululand and the idyllic and relaxing beaches of tropical Mozambique.
DAYS 1 - 2, Zululand, Mkuzi Game Reserve
From Johannesburg we head to the remote and scenic reserves of Zululand in northern KwaZulu Natal. We explore Mkuzi Game Reserve in search of the endangered black rhino and we wait at a hide overlooking one of the waterholes to watch the wildlife come down to drink.
We take a guided walk through a local village to meet the people and learn about the Zulu culture.
DAYS 3 - 5, Kosi Bay Nature Reserve
Kosi Bay Nature Reserve covers an area of sweeping beaches, great fertile estuaries, mangrove forests and lakes which we explore by boat and on foot. We also visit the Kosi Bay river mouth and snorkel in its clear waters as well as watch the local fisherman gather their nets in the estuary. Between the months of January and November it may be possible to glimpse giant leatherback turtles that come on to these beaches to lay their eggs.
DAY 6, Swaziland, Hlane Game Reserve
In the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland we stay in the Hlane Game Reserve, owned by the King and best explored on game walks. Here we hope to spot elephant, rhino and an array of beautiful birdlife.
DAYS 7 - 11, Maputo, Inhambane
Goodbye Swaziland, hello Mozambique! The first stop on our journey through this fascinating country is the vibrant capital of Maputo, before we head to the tropical beaches of Praia de Barra, via the trading port of Inhambane.
Once we arrive at Praia de Barra there is free time for you to enjoy the warm Indian Ocean. Activities here include snorkelling, scuba diving and a traditional dhow sailing voyage. We stay beneath cashew nut trees and enjoy this idyllic spot before we return to South Africa.
DAYS 12 - 14, Kruger National Park, Johannesburg
Now it's big game safari time in famous Kruger National Park as we go in pursuit of the 'Big Five'. In this incredibly diverse area we hope to spot many exciting wildlife. On the final day of the tour, drive through scenic Mpumalanga back to Johannesburg. Combine the thrill of big game safaris in Kruger with beautiful Zululand and the idyllic and relaxing beaches of tropical Mozambique.
