Day 1 - Cairns to Charters Towers
Departing Cairns Railway Station 8.30am. Travel eastward through the Atherton Tablelands to Charters Towers.

Day 2- Emerald
Today we travel from Charters Towers to Emerald
Overnight at Emerald
Day 3- Roma
On to Roma where we visit the Winery, large information centre, monumental bottle trees.
Overnight at Roma
Day 4- Charleville
Swim in the artesian spa, historical sights of Mitchell with its bushrangers, on to Charleville. Weather permitting star watch.
Overnight at Charleville
Day 5- Cooper Creek
This is vast cattle country. We enter the Channel country and Quilpie known for its boulder opals. Then on to make camp on the Cooper Creek.
Day 6- Brisdville
Visiting this western town of Windorah home of the famous Durrack family. Pass Betoota the old cattle taxing station.
Overnight at Birdsville
Day 7- Birdsville Track
The working museum in Birdsville is a highlight. Birdsville pub, racecourse, flying doctor hospital etc. Cross into South Australia to make camp along the Birdsville Track.
Day 8- Maree
Spend time at the oasis of Mangeranie then cross the Cooper Creek, to the old Ghan station.
Overnight at Maree
Day 9- Coward Springs
Today we walk on Lake Eyre at the site where Don Campbell set land speed records, the Big Bubbler, Blanches Cup.
Overnight at Coward Springs
Day 10- Coober Pedy
Spending time at Williams Creek, and then passing through the largest cattle station in the world, we arrive at the amazing town of Coober Pedy.

Day 11- Mintabie
Today we explore this unique town with its underground shops and living, travel north to Maria Bore then out to camp in the famous opal fields of Mintabie. A chance of to buy opals direct from miners.

We Cross the NT border into our 3rd state, pass through large cattle stations to the junction of Lassiter and Stuart Highways

Day 13- Yulara
Fantastic scenery of Mt Connors, Curtain Springs station, on to the Olgas and view the sunset on Ayers Rock.
