An alternative South East Adventure! Embark on a journey through the rich game parks, tropical beaches and welcoming smiles of Eastern Africa. Mix this with the stunning scenery and adrenaline filled activities at Victoria Falls and finish with an adventure through the watery paradise of the Okavango Delta. A perfect recipe for an unforgettable African experience!

DAYS 1 - 8, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater
From Nairobi we cross the Great Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok and into the Masai Mara Game Reserve, without doubt Kenya's best-known park. From our camp on the edge of the park, enjoy afternoon and morning game drives in pursuit of the Big 5. As the Mara is also in the heart of Masailand, a vast territory extending into Tanzania, you will also see the various villages and red-robed Masai herdsmen in and around the Reserve.

From the Mara, we travel back to Nairobi and onward to Arusha in Tanzania.’ At the Meserani Snake Park, view a full range of African reptiles and take a guided walk to a local Masai village. Transfer to 4x4 vehicles for a 3-day excursion to the Serengeti National Park, Olduvai Gorge and the Ngorongoro Crater. Seeing the views of the crater from the top, camping out in the bush in the middle of the Serengeti and listening to the sounds of the African night are all memorable experiences.

We return to Arusha to explore the markets before continuing to the Indian Ocean coast.

DAYS 9 - 14, Zanzibar, Mikumi National Park, Malawi
From Arusha we drive in the shadow of Mt Kilimanjaro. After crossing vast tracts of savanna we reach the port city of Dar Es Salaam, the leaping off point for Zanzibar. Over on the island there are watersports to be enjoyed on the northern beaches around Nungwi and quaint alleyways, historic architecture and tempting markets to be enjoyed in bustling Stone Town. The island is a perfect break from our trip with its relaxed charm, warm smiles and wonderful seafood. Back on the mainland, we have time to browse the curio markets before driving via Mikumi National Park to Malawi.

DAYS 15 - 21, Lake Malawi, Zambia
Malawi is one of the friendliest countries on tour and home to the third largest fresh water lake on the continent. We travel south along the shore of Lake Malawi stopping at various camps. Further south at Kande Beach enjoy the beach, try scuba diving, snorkelling sailing, and horse-back riding.

On our final day in our overland truck we leave the lake and cross out of Malawi through Zambia to the capital Lusaka and on to Livingstone.

DAYS 22 - 25, Livingstone, Victoria Falls (Zambia)
We have time here to enjoy Victoria Falls and some of the area’s activities. We camp next to the mighty Zambezi River and enjoy a sunset cruise and sundowners. We also view the thunderous Victoria Falls from the Mosi-Oa-Tunya (‘smoke that thunders’) National Park and take time out to visit a nearby local village. But this area is Africa’s adrenaline capital with - white water rafting, bungy jumping, gorge swinging, canoeing, sky-diving. Go for it if you dare!

For the more sedate, try the elephant-back safaris, walking safaris, scenic flights or relax by the river enjoying the mighty Zambezi. NB Local Payment is suspended for days 24 and 25. Please allow for meals and accommodation in your spending budget.

DAY 26, Chobe National Park
Today we continue our journey in a smaller vehicle, heading west over the Zambezi into Botswana and the small town of Kasane situated on the edge of Chobe National Park, famed for its large herds of elephants. There is an option to enjoy an afternoon game drive or a game viewing river cruise on the Chobe River (own expense) as the sun sets over the park..

DAYS 27 - 30, Maun, Okavango Delta
We head south to Maun and the Okavango Delta, a natural wetland where the Okavango River fans out into the only inland delta in the world. We explore the myriad of waterways and grassy islands by foot and mokoro (dug out canoe) hoping to catch sight of hippo, crocodile and some of the area’s abundant birdlife. We camp on river islands enjoying the sounds of the night and the vast skies over this watery world. A real wilderness experience!

DAYS 31 - 32, Kharma Rhino Sanctuary, Johannesburg
For a memorable view of the Delta you can choose to take a scenic flight above the wetlands. We then head south and stop at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary to view these magnificent animals at close quarters. Across the border in South Africa we enjoy views across the Mpumalanga region before arriving in Johannesburg where our safari ends late in the afternoon. An alternative South East Adventure!
