Full Itinerary
From rugged-cliff faces, towering mountains, lush-green forests to active volcanoes, it's no doubt that Mother Nature blessed the USA with a diverse mix of magnificent terrain. Behold giant redwood trees in the Redwood National Park, be awestruck by the seemingly bottomless Crater Lake, test your limits or take it easy hiking through Silver Falls State Park and examine the bizarre lava-landscapes surrounding Mount St Helens. Admire the views from the dazzling heights of Mt Rainier and then wander down to the ground and enjoy the creature comforts of Seattle.
Day 1 San Francisco
Soak up views from the city's bay.
Day 2 Mendocino
The sublime ocean views and vibrant arts scene make Mendocino a popular stopover.
Day 3 Redwood National Park
Head to the old logging town of Eureka and peruse its Victorian architecture. Walk beneath Redwood's impressive inhabitants; these giant trees are up to 2,000 years old and some of them tower 90 m tall.
Day 4 Crater Lake National Park
Travel through the rugged landscape of Six Rivers National Forest. Dwarfed by a volcano, Crater Lake has a depth of nearly 600 m - making it the deepest natural lake in North America. If time allows, opt to attend a ranger-led Crater Lake talk, and gain an insight into how it came to be.
Day 5 Oregon Dunes
Admire these massive sand dunes that rise dramatically from the shores of the Pacific Ocean and are some of the tallest in the continent.
Day 6 Silver Falls State Park
Go through Eugene, a major centre of lumber and wood products. Stop by Salem and then take a short drive to Silver Falls State Park. Choose from a variety of hikes among forested canyons to some of the park’s ten waterfalls. The hikes range from short walks to challenging treks.
Day 7 Mt St Helens
Drive through Portland to Mt St Helens, an active volcano that erupted in 1980, blanketing the surrounding hillside in lava that eventually hardened to form the dramatic terrain visible today.
Day 8 Seattle
Voyage up to Mt Rainier, an active volcano covered with glaciers. Travel to the birthplace of grunge - Seattle - and end the adventure in the busy city streets.
